What is the Inspection Skills for Waste Management Programme
This course is designed solely for waste enforcement officers. The course covers the skills that are required to plan and execute waste management inspections on facilities and unauthorised sites. The course has been delivered to local authority staff, compliance teams, specialist inspectors in Dublin City Council and the EPA.
Content
This course is designed for a range of waste management regulators working in compliance schemes, the EPA or in local authorities. Carrying out routine and non routine inspections is part of the typical work of an environmental enforcement professional. The course reviews the requirements of the Waste Management Act in relation to waste operation and waste activities from a legislative perspective, identifying the various components of the Waste Management Act and how they can be used as tools for enforcement. The course then goes through the key skills required for routine inspections and non routine inspections and how to deal with issues such as interviewing, note taking, evidence gathering and reporting of inspections. This is a very practical skill designed to help those that need to work in the field and deal with the day to day business of carrying out inspections. This is a one day course with a number of exercises to help begin to explore and develop the skills needed to be an inspector.

All type of waste inspectors working for waste regulatory and compliance scheme bodies.
Course Delivery
All ETS training courses are provided with comprehensive courseware which include a manual and any other supporting information that’s required during the delivery of the training. Manuals are maintained in up to date condition and are always relevant to of course that is being delivered. We design our training so that they not only provide information with powerpoint slides but also comprise group work and individual exercises to lie delegates to get a deeper understanding of the courseware. All our courses are delivered face to face and manuals are printed and provided at the event to ensure every delegate has all of the information they need to have a positive high quality training experience with us.
Venues
This course is delivered for groups of approximately 10 staff at the local authorities own training facilities or at a venue of their choice. The course fee is €3,200 which provides training for up to 10 members of staff. Environmental Training Solutions will provide training materials and catering is the responsibility of the local authority.
Assessment
This course is not subject to assessment at present.
Certification
Single day attendance certificate.
